Meet the Founder

Rakhee was born in vibrantly colorful Mumbai, India. The rich culture and traditions, and the fact that her father was running a 100-year-old family business, meant she was always surrounded by creativity and innovation. Growing up in a joint-family home with 26 family members, she had to learn to fend for herself from an early age. Her parents were a pillar of strength to her, encouraging her to explore her creative side and to master a life skill that would give her an identity as an independent woman.

At the age of 18, Rakhee moved to the US with a degree in Interior Design and her eyes full of dreams. After working odd jobs to pay the bills, she was hired as a custom decorator. Then at age 35, she had to restart her life from scratch following a life changing event and her survival skills kicked in.

She had to learn to survive as a single mother to a then 13-year-old son and figure out how to give them a secure future. That’s when she turned her passion into a career. She went on to become an Esthetician and Skincare Specialist, following her lifelong dream of being in the beauty industry. 

Skincare has always been Rakhee’s passion and when her son suffered from cystic acne and severe scarring, she became obsessed with finding a solution. After years of trying skincare products from high-end beauty companies, chemical peels, and laser treatments for her son, she decided to take matters into her own hands. 

She found that natural ingredients were suited better for his sensitive skin. After years of trial and error she discovered the ideal combination of exclusive-ancient ingredients like Saffron and Turmeric to combat dry, and acne prone skin. This is where MOUJ was born.
